visual records Panther Chameleon

Panther Chameleon

From the first flash of my camera at Zoo Augsburg to the latest snap, it’s been a year of capturing moments that speak louder than words. 🎉📸 Throwback to my first post and fast forward to today, where the panther chameleon’s vibrant dance of green and red hues still captivates us. This time, caught in the act, its tongue strikes with precision, making a meal of a grasshopper. 🦗👅

Did you know that these mesmerizing creatures can look in two directions at once? Their eyes can swivel independently, giving them a 360-degree arc of vision. Here’s to many more years of wonder, wildlife, and the unexpected shots that remind us how thrilling nature can be.

The panther chameleon is not only a master of camouflage but also a fascinating example of sexual dimorphism — males are more vibrantly colored than females, displaying a wide array of colors from blues, reds, greens to even yellows and oranges. These colors can change depending on their mood, temperature, and light conditions. Interestingly, the color patterns of the panther chameleon are also specific to the different geographic regions they come from in Madagascar, which can help in identifying their locale.
