Rhino Action

🦏💨 Hold onto your hats, because things got thrilling at the Augsburg Zoo with our incredible White Rhinos! In this action-packed moment captured on camera, we witnessed the playful interaction between the older rhinos and the brave little infant. 📸✨

As you can see in the photo, the young rhino sprinted across the grass and stones, with the determined adult rhino hot on its heels. But fear not, because our dedicated zookeepers swiftly intervened, ensuring the safety of all our rhino friends.

This behavior, known as ‘mock charging’, is a common display of dominance and playfulness among rhinos. It’s a way for the older rhinos to establish their authority and assert their place in the hierarchy, while the young ones learn valuable lessons about boundaries and social dynamics.

It’s fascinating to observe how rhinos communicate through body language, showcasing their power and agility. Moments like these remind us of the untamed spirit and strength that these magnificent creatures possess. After the chase, all the rhinos, big and small, took a refreshing dirt bath, which not only helps cool them down but also protects their sensitive skin from the sun and pesky insects.
